The Unique Power of Collective Action

For the past seven years Tokona Te Raki has been working  with sector organisations to develop a collective impact movement to end streaming in Aotearoa New Zealand schools. We started out in 2018 networking with individuals and over time have morphed into a 24-member strong rōpū leading a change movement in the education sector.

Collective Impact is the approach we use with the Kōkirihia implementation team. Originating at Stanford University it provides a framework for addressing complex social problems by mobilising multiple organisations and stakeholders. The backbone organisation plays a key role as the team that coordinates and communicates with the wider membership. In Kōkirihia, that is Tokona te Raki. Late last year we engaged in a piece of research to determine how effective our collective impact has been. You can read our report below.
